Welcome to the world of 3D Animation, an animation style that’s becoming increasingly popular the last couple of years. How come, you may wonder? Well, a lot of that comes down to new techniques.
Animating in 3D is a time consuming process that demands a lot of computing power, something that used to be only accessible for big animation studios. But in recent years we’ve seen big improvements in what computers are capable of, so more and more people can start exploring 3D animation.
Why is 3D Animation so great? For one, you’re not bound to the limits of our physical world. You can create anything you want, in any style you want. Do you want something photorealistic, do you prefer a cartoony look or something entirely different? The possibilities are endless.
"In a world of endless possibilities,
what story do you want to tell?"
what story do you want to tell?"
Another benefit of 3D animation compared to filming is the flexibility you have. Let’s say you’re filming a promo for your new product. You’ve had an intense few days of set building, making sure the lighting is perfect and doing multiple retakes for every shot to get the best viewing angle.
All is set and done, you watch the footage and that’s when you see it, a small scratch, maybe a fingerprint or a speck of dust on the product. With film you have to rebuild everything, redo the lighting setup and add another couple of days of filming. With 3D, once everything is set up, it’s more or less a click of a button to change the color. Don’t like the camera angle? Same thing, just move it up or down a bit.
