Let’s say you want to have an animated video. For yourself, your music or your company. Chances are you are on this website because of it. Or maybe you just like alpacas. When you look online, you see all these technical terms thrown around, motion graphics being one of them. So what are motion graphics and how can you use them?
"Motion Graphics can bring a static design to life"
Motion graphics take graphic design that would be otherwise static and gives it animation and motion. Want the bars in your graph to rise up for some extra attention? That’s motion graphics. Want your logo to spin around? That’s motion graphics. Want some text in your video to animate? That’s also motion graphics.
See here some motion graphics in combination with 3D animation. The animated heartbeat and the text animation are the most obvious ones, but also the animated backgrounds in the 2nd and 3rd picture are considered motion graphics.
But it doesn’t stop there. Motion graphics are much broader than just that. Motion graphics can also be used for more complex, story driven videos such as title sequences in movies or to explain a detailed process in a documentary.
Another use of motion graphics is in addition to filmed content. It can be used to highlight certain details or to add extra information. Video is really usefull for capturing emotions and communicating a feeling to an audience. By adding motion graphics to your footage you can communicate your story on a whole new level.
